Iran’s Cinema Verite to screen docs from Millennium

The 13th Cinema Verite is to screen 7 docs that attended Belgium’s Millennium Documentary Film Festival.

The 13th edition of the Cinema Verite, Iran's major documentary film festival, has set to screen seven documentaries which had previously attended Belgium’s Millennium Documentary Film Festival.

The selected films will go on screen at the “Mirror of a Festival” section of the Cinema Verite.

The lineup includes ‘Arreo’ by Tato Moreno from Argentina, ‘The Color of the Chameleon’ by Andres Lubbert from Germany and ‘A Woman Captured’ by Bernadett Tuza-Ritter from Hungary.

‘Heart of Stone’ by Claire Billet and Olivier Jobard from France, ‘It’s Not Yet Dark’ by Frankie Fenton from Ireland, ‘The Other Side of Everything' a co-production of Serbia, France and Qatar by Mila Turalic, are also among the selected films.

Austrian-Ghanaian ‘Welcome to Sodom’ by Christian Krones and Florian Weigensamer is included in this batch of films too.

“The Millennium Festival is intended to be the venue for the screening of high-quality, independent documentary films that talk about our times and encourage viewers to reflect on their relationship to the world,” the gala’s website reads.

Meanwhile, Zlatina Rousseva, the artistic director of the Millennium Festival, has been invited to attend the upcoming edition of the Cinema Verite.

Organized by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center, the first edition of the Cinema Verite was held in 2007.

Over the past decade it has emerged as one of the important events on Iran's documentary film calendar.

The 13th edition of the Cinema Verite will be held in Tehran on December 9-16, 2019.
